Repeat Prescriptions

blue_pills.jpgOrdering repeat prescriptions must be done in writing. Once processed the prescription can either be:

  • Collected from the surgery.
  • Sent to you if you have provided a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
  • Sent electronically to a local pharmacy so that you can collect your medication directly from them.

Please allow 2 working days for prescriptions to be processed if collecting from the surgery. If collecting from the pharmacy please allow 3 days before collection. Be sure to indicate where you wish to collect the prescription.

PLEASE ALSO REMEMBER...

  • To ask the doctor, nurse or pharmacist if you are unsure about any of your medication.

  • To order ONLY what is needed by marking the boxes on the request slip.

  • To leave plenty of time to re-order so that you do not run out.

  • To not over-order and stock-pile medication.

  • To let your GP know if you have stopped taking anything on your prescription list.

  • To let the GP know if you are travelling abroad and will require further supplies to cover you.

Quantity

We will normally issue 1 months' supply of repeat prescriptions (excluding contraception and hormone replacement therapies). In certain cases a maximum of 2 months may be issued. This stems from Surrey Downs CCG guidance to reduce the cost implication for the NHS as a whole. Please try to order all your repeat prescriptions at the same time. This significantly reduces the processing workload for our reception staff.

Review

At the bottom of your repeat prescription slip there is a review date. This date ensures your doctor reviews the medications you are on. As a result of this you may be asked to come in for blood tests, a blood pressure reading or an appointment with the doctor or nurse. Review dates are important and if you have any questions about your medication then do not hesitate to ask

Online Prescriptions

You can now order your repeat prescriptions online. If you have already registered for online appointments this facility is now available to you. If not then please complete a form available from our reception desk. To order your repeat prescription once registered please click on the link at the top of this page.

PLEASE NOTE: Any non-repeat items required should be made in writing to the surgery in the usual way. Additionally, for safety reasons; we do not take medicine requests over the telephone.
